What do you know that is ‘set in stone’ today? What do you know that is no longer changeable? Certain? Firm? Permanent?
Your job? Your health? Your wealth? Your friends? Your amazing marriage? Your perfect children? I guess my life circumstances and the lives that I observe around me indicate that there’s just not much that I can say is ‘set in stone’ in this earthly realm. The one thing that we can know for certain is the love of Christ and His redemptive plan for our lives. Jeremiah 31:3 promises, ‘I have loved you with an everlasting love; I have drawn you with loving-kindness.’ Zephaniah 3:17 says, ‘The LORD your God is with you, he is mighty to save. He will take great delight in you, he will quiet you with his love, he will rejoice over you with singing.’ John 3:16 says ‘For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.’
Amazing & awesome. The only thing that I know for certain is the love of Christ. This is good news to share with someone who is going through pain and transition in their lives or for someone who just needs a little reminder. Let them know that there is one thing ‘set in stone’ that they can hang onto and embrace.
This lovely chunky Sterling Silver Heart Pendant is a perfect gift that can be that reminder. It has a fish called an “icthus” delicately cast into the heart. It is the symbol that was used by early Christians to covertly identify each other at a time when Rome was persecuting them. Christians could put this mark on their homes or in the dirt on the road in front of their homes to indicate to other Christians that they shared the same faith. In Greek, ICTHUS is spelled “ICQUS”. As is the case with acrostics, each letter represents another word. ‘I’ means Jesus. ‘C’ means Christ. ‘Q’ means God’s. ‘U’ means Son. ‘S’ means Savior.
Let others know that you are a follower of God’s Son, Jesus Christ – Savior.
