I’m still working my way through Crazy Love by Francis Chan. It is really a wonderful meaty book and I have been enjoying it. However, I had to put it down for a couple of weeks as I was vacationing, workationing, and moving kids to and fro…
… and I was also in a great funk due to the circumstances impacting my family at this point in time.
Crazy Love profiles how elaborate God’s love is for us and how our only purpose during these few miniscule seconds that we are alive on this earth is to serve Him out of a similar level of love. It is a great reminder about who God is and who we are. (You can pretty much tell the level of importance based upon the fact that God gets a capital G and we get a small w.) Which by the way I am good with. I love God dearly, seek more of Jesus daily, and wrap my life around serving Him… in fact I couldn’t face a day without Him.
Even though my husband and I seek Him first and are in full time ministry, life is difficult. Life on this earth is not easy. Complications arise. Difficulties surface. Storms rage around us.
I picked up Francis’ book, when I was able to capture a few moments, and looked back through my notes in the early chapters. I found a striking reminder that helped loosen the hard shell that was solidifying around me. From Chapter 2…
‘Maybe life is tough right now, and everything feels like a struggle. God has allowed hard things in your life so that you can show the world that your God is great and that knowing Him brings peace and joy, even when life is hard. Likely the psalmist who wrote, “I saw the prosperity of the wicked… Surely in vain I have kept my heart pure…. When I tried to understand all of this, it was oppressive to me until I entered the sanctuary of God” (Psalm 73:3, 13, 16-17). It is easy to become disillusioned with the circumstances of our lives compared to others’. But in the presence of God, He gives us a deeper peace and joy that transcends it all.
To be brutally honest, it doesn’t really matter what place you find yourself in right now. Your part is to bring Him glory— whether eating a sandwich on a lunch break, drinking coffee at 12:04 am so you can stay awake to study, or watching your four month old take a nap.
The point of your life is to point to Him.’
Not much more needs to be said. Where does your life point?
Be blessed and safe in all that you do and endure by clinging to the one and only Saviour, Jesus Christ AND allowing others to see His abundant mercy and grace through you.
